Scope
Appliance Almanac publishes reference and troubleshooting guidance for household appliances sold in the United States. Pages are written in U.S. English for consumers, not for trade professionals.
Sourcing
1. Manufacturer manuals, service documentation and official support pages are the preferred sources.
2. Public agencies and standards bodies (for example CPSC, EPA, DOE) are used for safety, refrigerant and efficiency statements.
3. A claim that no source supports is not published. If research cannot support a promise made in a page’s title, the promise is narrowed until it matches the evidence, or the page is not published.
We do not cite our own pages as evidence, and we do not present a source’s statement as our own observation.
What we never claim
- We never claim to have tested, measured, disassembled or repaired an appliance.
- We never publish percentages, failure rates, repair costs or timings that no named source states.
- We never claim certifications, credentials, long-standing field experience, staff technicians or manufacturer partnerships, because we have none.
- We never promise guaranteed outcomes.
Specificity and variation
Appliance behaviour varies by manufacturer, model and year. Pages state when guidance is general, when it is model-dependent, and when the official manual must be consulted. Brand-specific pages exist only when the search intent for that brand is genuinely distinct — never as an automatic brand-by-symptom matrix.
Independence
Appliance Almanac is independent and is not affiliated with the appliance manufacturers discussed on the site. Brand names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the appliances being described.
If advertising or affiliate arrangements exist in the future, they will be disclosed on the pages they affect, describing the arrangement that actually exists at that time. Commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions.
Updates
Pages are revised when a manufacturer changes documented guidance, when a safety notice is issued, or when a reader reports an error. Substantive revisions are noted on the page.
